Mérida, Yucatán — Elements of the National Guard located inside the International Airport of Mérida, Yucatán report the discovery of cupcakes laced with opioids.
The discovery was made during a routine parcel review. With the help of an on site narcotics dog, Guardia Nacional personnel found the package being marked as positive for drugs. Once opened and inspected, the parcel was found with 24 cupcakes that tested positive for methadone / oxycodone, opioid substances.
The package was destined for the Azcapotzalco City Hall of the City of Mexico. The package was seized and made available to the Attorney General of the State of Yucatán.
