During holidays, Green Angles assist over 64,000 between Cancun, Tulum

Cancun, Q.R. — The tourism corporation says that over the holidays, the Green Angels assisted more than 64,000 visitors between Cancun and Tulum.

The Tourist Services Corporation of the Ministry of Tourism reports support by the Ángeles Verdes reached 64,625 over a three-week period of the busiest season of the year. They say of those, 15,848 were roadside assistance trips with 43 being road accident support.

The ministry says that the Ángeles Verdes (Green Angels) fleet covered just over 907,000 kilometers of highway to respond to 3,451 calls to their 078 help number by area tourists. For the season, 34 tourist assistance camps were installed to provide assistance to travelers.

The Ángeles Verdes normally have five assistance camps set up to provide roadside assistance to travelers between Cancun and Tulum, including Puerto Morelos and Playa del Carmen. They say that during holiday seasons such as Semana Santa, Christmas and Easter, their calls more than double.

The Ángeles Verdes are maintained by the Ministry of Tourism as well as the Secretariats of the Interior, Foreign Affairs, Communications and Transportation, Finance and Public Credit, Health, Economy, Public Education, Public Safety and Citizen Protection and Mexico’s National Defense.
