Holbox, Q.R. — Rainfall caused by cold front number 7 has left many of the streets of Holbox Island flooded, affecting fishing and tourism activities.
The mayor of Holbox, Idalberto Cetina Alcocer, said that Civil Protection personnel along with the mayor’s office are carrying out drainage work due to the heavy rains that have again, hit the region. Streets were drained only a few days ago from cold front 6. Now again, heavy rains arrived with cold front 7, leaving numerous areas of the island under water.
Cetina Alcocer says that although he has the support of the Potable Water and Sewerage Commission (CAPA) and the National Water Commission (Conagua), not much could be done to drain streets with the continued downpour throughout the day.
Once the rains let up, work crews were out in full force, draining island streets. The entire region is currently in the midst of its tropical rainy season.
