Tulum, Q.R. — A driver alleged responsible for a fatal hit and run fled the scene before police arrived Sunday night. A female motorcycle driver that was hit by a vehicle was found dead at the scene.
The accident happened near the entrance to the town of Tulum late Sunday. According to initial reports, the private vehicle struck the motorcycle, throwing the driver to the pavement. The driver behind the wheel of the responsible vehicle kept going.
Moments later, another vehicle that happened upon the scene collided with the dumped motorcycle that was still laying across a lane of highway.
National Guard cordoned off a section of the federal road to prevent further accidents. Municipal Police also arrived along with paramedics who confirmed the death of the woman.
