Two stabbed one set on fire and killed during PDC street altercation

Playa del Carmen, Q.R. — A street fight between three men has left one dead after being set on fire and two injured from stab wounds. Municipal Police were called to the Nicte-Ha neighborhood around 5:00 p.m. by neighbors who reported the fight near a security booth.

The fight happened on a property located off Pintores Avenue Friday evening. Residents who made the report said one man involved had been set on fire. Responding officers arrived at the scene to find two men stabbed and one dead.

The deceased man, who was also stabbed, is reported to have been set on fire and burned on half of his body. The two stabbing victims were stabilized by responding paramedics and rushed to the Playa del Carmen General Hospital.

The Secretariat of Citizen Security (SSC) reported the arrests of three people linked to the incident, however, neighbors said there were more than three people involved. The SSC used the city helicopter to perform a flyover to located others, but did not make additional arrests.

Local reports say the fight was between homeless people, however, police have not confirmed who was involved or what caused the deadly fight. A large area was cordoned off by police while they worked through the case.
