Civil Protection says sale of fireworks prohibited for Isla Mujeres

Isla Mujeres, Q.R. — The Directorate of Civil Protection of Isla Mujeres says that the sale of fireworks will not be permitted this year, adding that businesses need to respect regulations.

Merced Ortiz Maya, la Dirección de Protección Civil y Bomberos says the sale of pyrotechnics is prohibited in the municipality of Isla Mujeres and that authorities will be carrying out an exhaustive verification to ensure there are not any sales.

“We are carrying out an inspection operation to ensure that pyrotechnic devices are not sold since it is a priority for the municipal government to maintain peace and security for islanders and visitors, so the sale of pyrotechnics is totally prohibited.

“If we find them, we will take the appropriate measures and sanctions, therefore, we invite you to follow instructions and respect the rules,” said the official.

He stressed that relevant information has been provided on official social networks about the prohibition of the sale of pyrotechnics to raise awareness about the importance and risk of using these products.

He noted that vendors found selling fireworks will be subject to a fine and could even see the closure of their business.
