Soledad de Graciano Sánchez, San Luis Potosí — San Luis Potosí will be the first state in Mexico to have an ambulance dedicated to providing veterinary care to street dogs.
Known as Ambudog, the dog ambulance has been created to provide veterinary medical attention to animals that live on the streets in the municipality of Soledad de Graciano Sánchez.
Ambudog and its driver will make regular rounds through the streets providing much needed medical attention to not only street dogs, but also to pet owners. Ambudog will be maintained by the municipality’s staff from the Animal Control and Protection Unit.
Ambudog is the latest addition to the municipality’s efforts in helping street animals. Private citizens and businesses also participate in other animal welfare care including the placement of food and water feeders around various parts of the city similar to the ones in Puebla.
The city estimates it has around 300,000 stray dogs living in its streets.
