Cancun, Q.R. — A Cancun judge has sentenced a man to 50 years for the murder of a pregnant woman. On Tuesday, Ariel “N ” was given a 50-year prison sentence for the crime of feminicide.
The sentence stems from a January 2021 incident in SM 250 when Ariel “N” was working at a private home. After completing a day of gardening, the woman said her husband would pay him when he arrived from work.
Ariel “N” became angered and subdued the woman. He then stabbed her. She was pregnant at the time of the stabbing. Both she and the baby died.
In a statement, the State Attorney General said “in January 2021, Aeril “N” carried out gardening work in a house in Superblock 250 of Cancun. At the end, the victim told him that she could not pay him until her husband returned, which provoked the aggressor’s anger, subduing the woman, who was pregnant, and with a knife he caused various injuries to her body, causing her to die and the death of the baby.”
During the trial, this social representation requested to reclassify the crime of qualified homicide as feminicide. “At the hearing, the court handed down a maximum sentence of 50 years in prison against Ariel “N” for the crime of feminicide.”
In addition, he was ordered to pay a fine of 268,680 pesos and to pay for the repair of material damage, he must cover an amount of 717,000 pesos.
