Cancun criminal group dismantled say police

Cancun, Q.R. — A criminal group consisting of four men and two women related to home and business thefts in Cancun has been dismantled, authorities said.

In a notice, authorities announced the arrest of the alleged criminals who they say were heavily armed. According to their report, the six were arrested in SM 98 of Cancun after a recent armed robbery in Region 240.

Police say those arrested have been identified as 21-year-old José Manuel Z.R., Tomás M.G. 32, Yuliana O.V. 23, Luis Alberto H.D. and Narciso D.C. both 30 and Alma R.M.D., 27.

Authorities said they also secured a 2012 Nissan Versa and three firearms with 23 cartridges and two chargers.

The six were handed over to the Attorney General’s Office.

Their latest robbery was reported Wednesday morning when five of the six entered a business and demanded its cash. After they left, an employee called authorities and was able to provide a description of their get-away vehicle.

From that description, police managed to locate the vehicle behind a furniture store in SM 98.
