Cancun, Q.R. — An elderly man was killed in Cancun Monday after being hit by a bus. City police were on scene of the early evening accident on Luis Donaldo Colosio Boulevard.
According to information obtained, the man was killed while crossing the busy roadway in a work zone. Motorists called in the 5:20 p.m. pedestrian accident that left the man dead on the road. He was found laying among orange roadway cones set out to direct traffic flow.
The driver of the bus involved in the accident fled the scene. Passengers on the bus were left stranded. It was them who told Cancun Transit Officers that the driver ran from his unit once he realized the pedestrian was dead. The passenger bus was heading to the state of Tabasco at the time of the accident.
