Cancun, Q.R. — Elements of the National Guard secured a shipment of 27 pieces of white croaker fish from a shipment at the Cancun International Airport over the weekend.
The box was seized from the warehouse of an airline after officers found the fish during a safety inspection in which the box gave off a strong fish order. The white croaker or corvineta blanca as it is known in Mexico, is considered a threatened species.
The box contained 27 pieces of dehydrated fish. Officers noted that the parcel arrived from Hermosillo, Sonora. It was made available to the Office of the Attorney General of the Republic (FGR), who will be in charge of carrying out the corresponding investigation.
