Cancun, Q.R. — The Attorney General of the State of Quintana Roo reports the investigation into the robbery of two citizens and injury to of one of its police members in an incident outside a Cancun bank.
They say the incident happened at a Cancun bank branch in SM 21 where two people were stripped of their cash by two other subjects. At the time the events took place, the ministerial police officers who were carrying out security duties were surprised by the incident, which resulted in one agent being physically assaulted and both stripped of their weapons.
Experts from various disciplines processed the site to collect data that will be integrated into the investigation. The Attorney General says in the meanwhile, “we continue to work on the identification of the two people who participated in the events.”
They say they will also investigate why the agents did not activate the established protocols to safeguard their integrity and ensure the assurance of the likely participants.
The State Attorney General’s Office will continue with the necessary judicial procedures to obtain evidence that leads to clarification of the facts in accordance with the provisions of the law.
The statement comes from the Attorney General after reports the agents provided protection to a company. They say the action of the agents are being investigated.
