At least five injured after SUV plows into Cancun taqueria

Cancun, Q.R. — At least five people were injured after a car plowed through a busy Cancun market Sunday night. The victims were eating in a taqueria in the Paraíso Maya subdivision of Cancun at the time of the incident.

Emergency reports made to 911 regarding the 9:00 p.m. accident said people had been run over by a car with an out-of-control driver. Authorities responding to the reports found a red SUV at the scene with a man and woman inside.

At least five people from the market were transferred to Cancun hospital with serious injuries. Both people from inside the SUV were taken into custody and the vehicle towed. It is not clear how or why the driver of the SUV crashed into the Cancun taqueria.
