National Guard shot at Cancun base during internal conflict between officers

Cancun, Q.R. — An internal investigation has been started into the shooting of a National Guard by another member. The injured man was transferred to Cancun hospital early Saturday where he is reported to be stable.

The incident took place between two on-duty guards at the Cancun airport base Friday night. Initial reports say an argrument between the two became heated when one is alleged to have shot the other.

The shooting was reportedly over an internal conflict between officers. After hearing the shot, other guards ran to the scene where they found a shot man laying on the ground with a bullet wound to his leg.

The alleged shooter was taken into custody from the scene of the shooting by fellow National Guard and handed over to the Military Police.
