Chetumal, Q.R. — The Anti-Corruption Prosecutor’s Office of Quintana Roo is investigating a former Chief Justice of the Judiciary for the diversion of 23 million peso.
Head of la Auditoría Superior del Estado (ASE), Manuel Palacios Herrera, confirmed that Fidel Villanueva Rivero, the ex-magistrate of Poder Judicial of Quintana Roo, was placed under investigation when la Fiscalía Anticorrupción de Quintana Roo detected irregularities during the last year of his position.
Palacios Herrera says the Prosecutor’s Office is investigating the possible mismanagement of resources, which amount to 23 million peso. He adds that their findings will be announced in the coming weeks.
Fidel Villanueva Rivero served as president of the Superior Court of Justice of the State from August 2011 to August 2017.
