Cancun, Q.R. — A tourist from the city of Mexicali died Monday in a fatal hit and run. The accident was reported by witnesses in the Cancun Hotel Zone around 9:45 p.m.
The 78 year old woman was struck by a vehicle as she crossed Kukulcán Boulevard. She was pronounced dead at the scene. Witnesses reported seeing a pickup truck hit the woman when she was in the center of the boulevard.
The accident happened near kilometer 3.5 of the Hotel Zone. The driver of the pickup fled the scene. The woman was with her family at the time of the accident. They told police they had arrived in Cancun for vacation from Baja California a few days beforehand.
Police are reviewing the city’s C5 security cameras to locate the person responsible.
