Playa del Carmen, Q.R. — Two former municipal officials have been charged with abuse of office and illicit use of power. The Specialized Anti-Corruption Prosecutor’s Office obtained the indictment against Ariadne Guadalupe “N” and Jorge Miguel Gerardo “N” for abusive exercise of functions and illicit use of power.
According to the investigation opened in March 2025, Ariadne “N” and Jorge “N” were municipal officials during the 2021-2024 administration. Both have been accused of using their positions to modify property registration documents and appropriate properties already in the possession of others.
Ariadne “N,” who was the then-mayor’s private secretary, and Jorge “N”, the former Director of Contentious Affairs for the City Council, were arrested August 5 by the State Attorney General (FGE) for unlawful use of power and abuse of authority.
Both have been accused of illegally appropriating land in the Cristo Rey neighborhood of Playa del Carmen for personal benefit.

During the continuation of the initial hearings, a Playa del Carmen judge agreed to a trial, granting a period of two and three months, respectively, to complete the supplementary investigation. Both defendants have been ordered to remain in custody during that time.
