Airport operation halts large Puebla drug shipment bound for Cancun

Huejotzingo, Puebla — A joint operation between the National Guard and Mexican Army were able to intercept a cocaine shipment destined for Cancun. Luggage being loaded onto a plane belonging to a national airline was searched.

The search took place Wednesday afternoon on a commercial flight at the Hermanos Serdán International Airport in Puebla. Police dogs were brought in to help in the search which revealed more than 120 packages of marijuana and cocaine divided between several black suitcases.

Due to the finding, the plane was delayed in taking off. Two people, both reported to be men, were arrested for attempted smuggling on the Puebla to Cancun flight.
