Riviera Maya, Q.R. — Autobuses de Oriente (ADO) General Manager says the company is anticipating an increase in summer passengers. Julio Garcia, the General Manager of Mobility ADO, says they are preparing for a 9 percent increase in travel demand for the summer holidays.
He says locals traveling with ADO should purchase their tickets in advance since they offer discounts.
“We are about to start the summer season. A lot of our travelers are families heading out for vacation, so we are inviting them to buy their travel tickets in advance because there are discounts for teachers and students at the ADO box offices,” he explained.
He says that during the months of June, July and August, the bus company is expecting the 9 percent increase in travel demand in Quintana Roo.
Despite the drop in U.S. tourism, that void has been offset by other markets. Travelers from Canada, as well as national and regional tourists, are keeping bus seats filled, he said.
In Quintana Roo, ADO moves around 600,000 travelers a month, a figure that is expected to increase to around 700,000 at least for July. That number could increase even more with the arrival of more-than-expected national tourists, whose children are still in classes.
Garcia reported that already this month, ADO has seen a 7 percent increase in bus travelers over June of last year.
