Acapulco, Guerrero — The third earthquake during the month of March has been recorded in Acapulco. On Friday, the National Seismological Service (SSN) reported the 4.8 magnitude earthquake occurred at 1:53 p.m. at a depth of 22 kilometers. The epicenter was located six kilometers southwest of Acapulco.
The quake was felt in the neighboring areas of Chilpancingo, Acapulco, Oaxaca, Morelia and Puebla. The earth’s rumble activated the seismic alert system in Mexico City, causing the evacuation of thousands for the second time this month.
Authorities from Mexico City, Chilpancingo, Acapulco, Oaxaca, Morelia and Puebla have not reported any damage after the earthquake.
On the night of March 5, a 5.6 magnitude earthquake was recorded in the state of Oaxaca and felt in the states of Chiapas, Veracruz and Puebla. It was the second earthquake recorded that week.
