Abandoned suitcase at Cancun airport found stuffed with cocaine

Cancun, Q.R. — A blue suitcase of drug packages was found abandoned at the Cancun International Airport that originated from the city of El Dorado de Bogotá in Colombia.

Police report the finding of 24 bricks of cocaine hidden inside a suitcase that was left behind. Somehow, the suitcase made it through the Anti-Narcotics Police from El Dorado airport in Bogotá, Colombia, arriving on a commercial flight into Cancun.

Members of la Guardia Nacional were alerted to the presence of the abandoned suitcase with its final destination of Cancun. The suitcase was allegedly abandoned by the person traveling with it once they noticed police passing the bag through x-ray in Terminal 2. The owner of the suitcase was not found, but their 27 kilos of cocaine was.

The finding was made by elements of la Secretaría de Seguridad y Protección Ciudadana (SSPC). The cocaine was confiscated and handed over to the Attorney General’s Office.
