Abandoned Cancun suitcases found filled with marijuana

Cancun, Q.R. — Two red carry-on suitcases deemed abandoned were inspected by federal authorities at the central Cancun ADO bus station Thursday.

Inside, elements of the National Guard reported finding 19 large packages of marijuana. Authorities reported that both pieces of luggage had arrived to Cancun via a bus from Chetumal. They noted that along the way, bus stops made in both Bacalar and in Playa del Carmen, the baggage was not claimed. It also remained unclaimed after its arrival in Cancun, which was why it was deemed abandoned and eventually inspected.

The two suitcases and its contents were secured and delivered to the Attorney General of the Republic.
