Playa del Carmen — Cozumel, Q.R. — The Ultramar ferry service that runs between Cozumel and Playa del Carmen says there will be a fare increase beginning mid-March.
In a press release, the company announced that as of March 16, new rates will apply to everyone using the service, including residents of the state on the Quintana Roo Plan.
Locals on the plan will see a rate increase from 70.00 peso to 115.00 for a one-way ticket with a round trip fee costing 200.00 peso, up from 140.00 peso.
Once their new tariffs take hold, general ferry users will be charged 220.00 peso for a one-way ticket, an increase of 20 peso, and 400.00 for a round-trip, an increase of 10 peso. Those who prefer first-class will be charged 260.00 peso, up from 220.00 and 500.00 peso for a round-trip, an increase of 80.00 peso.
Seniors with local ID traveling on Ultramar will also face an increase. Instead of paying 60.00 peso, they will be required to pay 100.00.
The company says the increase is simply due to the fact they provide safe, secure service with comfort and modern technologies for its passengers.
