Riviera Maya, Q.R. — Xcaret Xailing continues to carry out tests for a new route addition. The Xcaret passenger vessel spent Thursday conducting test runs for the possibility of a new Cozumel to Playa del Carmen route.
Passenger vessel Xcaret 1 tested runs and docking at the San Miguel pier of Cozumel. There were some passengers seen getting off the boat upon landing at the Cozumel dock.
More than two dozen people participated in the test run from Playa del Carmen to Cozumel Thursday. The test was mostly to verify the disembarkation and boarding process due to boat versus pier height differences.
The Comprehensive Port Administration of Quintana Roo (APIQROO) recently reported that full facilities are being granted to the Xcaret company to carry out these tests. The goal of the tests is to guarantee passenger safety.
The company has not announced an official starting date for their Cozumel service. They currently offer Xcaret passenger service between Isla Mujeres and the Cancun Hotel Zone.
