Xcaret Xailing to set sail from Playa del Carmen mid-August

Riviera Maya, Q.R. — Xcaret Xailing is set to sail from a new dock as of August. The theme park company who recently began their own Isla Mujeres – Cancun route will be adding a Playa del Carmen – Cozumel route to their list.

Miguel Alonso Marrufo, head of the Integral Port Administration of Quintana Roo in Cozumel, says that by mid-August Xcaret should be operating.

Tickets for the island to mainland route will be sold from the old Barcos Caribe booth that is already constructed among the other ferry options. The booth has already begun a revamp to adapt to the Xcaret look.

The company’s two vessels, Xel-Há and Xcaret, will be used to make the trips. At the moment, they are being used to run the Cancun-Isla Mujeres route.

However, since the boats are not filling to capacity, the 650-passenger vessels will be used to run the Playa del Carmen-Cozumel route and two smaller 350-person vessels will be brought in for the Cancun-Isla Mujeres run.
