Weapons found at time of drug bust related to recent Cozumel crimes

Cozumel. Q.R. — Island police have detained two on charges of drug dealing for the purpose of supply. Police have also linked their weapons to recent island shootings. On Tuesday, Alberto “N” and César “N” were both formally charged.

According to the Attorney General, both men were arrested on September 21 of this year, at 25th Avenue and 11th in the Centro neighborhood of Cozumel. They were arrested “for their probable participation in drug dealing for supply purposes,” they added.

The Agency says their arrests are part of the actions to combat organized crime. “At the time of their capture, Investigative Police confiscated two firearms in addition to different types of drugs that, according to the forensic chemical opinion, correspond to Cannabis Sativa, hydrochloride of solid and powder cocaine, as well as methamphetamines, better known as crystal.

“During the investigations it was established that these two people belong to a criminal group that generates violence in the state. Likewise, when analyzing the firearms they were carrying, they were linked due to their probable participation in criminal acts that recently occurred on the island.”
