Puerto Morelos, Q.R. — What was initially reported as an injured unconscious person ended up being classified as homicide. On Friday afternoon, police were called to the La Fé neighborhood of Puerto Morelos after the discovery of an injured man.
At the scene, paramedics confirmed the death of the home’s occupant, who has not been named. He was found inside a house on Timón Street. The person who found him, who has also not been identified, called police to report an unconscious person with a bloodied face.
Once at the scene, responding officers found spent shell casings near the body. The blood found on the victim’s face is believed from a gunshot wound.
Puerto Morelos police cordoned off the area while agents from the Investigative Police (PDI) collected evidence as part of an open investigation. Personnel from the Forensic Medical Service (Semefo) were called to remove the body.
Local authorities have not provided any information on the deceased victim.
