Puerto Morelos, Q.R. — The municipal government of Puerto Morelos has begun the second phase of paving the town’s 5th Street Sur. The second stage of the paving project was started Sunday, headed by Mayor Blanca Merari Tziu Muñoz.
According to Merari, the project will directly benefit 150 homes and improve access to schools in the area.
“It took a long time for this project to arrive, but since the last administration we began allocating resources to address residents’ requests. Today, we have delivered and continue working to transform our reality,” she said.
“This project represents the fulfillment of a commitment we made to the residents. Today, we allocated 1,850,000 pesos of our own resources to remediate 1,090 square meters with a 5 cm thick asphalt surface. This is money from the people going back to the people,” she emphasized.
“My commitment is to carry out projects where they are most needed, build infrastructure that transforms communities and implement useful, visible projects that serve everyone.”
The mayor also expressed her gratitude for the active participation of the Social Participation Committees who oversee the progress of the projects and the proper use of resources, thus ensuring transparency and trust.

The Secretary of Public Works, Mario Salinas Castro, said that this second phase is not just another project but rather “a firm step toward the transformation of the area and a concrete response to citizen demands. Today we reaffirm our commitment to building a more dignified and better-connected municipality.”
