Puerto Morelos, Q.R. — A routine surveillance operation outside Puerto Morelos has led to the arrest of two men.
La Secretaría de Seguridad Pública y Tránsito reports the arrest of two Romanian nationals during routine surveillance along Ruta de los Cenotes. Police say that the pair were taken into custody after they discovered a gun and large amount of cash.
Arrested were 42-year-old Florian N and 37-year-old Adrian Nicolae N for the possession of an illegal firearm and cash that totaled nearly 500,000 peso in both American and Mexican denominations.
They were taken into custody from a Quintana Roo plated Escalade. There was no word if the men were in the country illegally. The arrest was made in coordination with the both municipal and military police.
The men, along with the gun and money, are being held for the Attorney General of the Republic.
