Isla Mujeres, Q.R. — Two men have been arrested in separate incidences on Isla Mujeres after police say they were found carrying weapons.
Staff of the la Coordinación de Reacción y Alerta Inmediata (CRAI) report the arrest of one young man after he was found carrying a gun. Police say the man, 27-year-old Germán N, was driving a motorcycle when he accelerated at the sight of police.
However, agents managed to catch up to him. When stopped, police found Germán was carrying a .38mm Colt and cartridges, a gun they say is for exclusive use for the Mexican Army. They also found the motorcycle he was driving was stolen
He was taken into custody for vehicle theft and carrying a weapon.
A second man was arrested on Isla Mujeres over the weekend after he too, was found carrying a weapon. Federal police reported seeing a man on Isla Contoy Avenue who began to walk faster when he noticed their presence.
After a review of his person, police found a .9 mm Beretta handgun with cartridge fastened around his waist. Police arrested 42-year-old Luis Alberto N. for carrying a firearm exclusively for the Army.
Both detainees and the seized items were handed over to la Procuraduría General de la República (PGR).
