Three arrested in Cozumel for harassing tourists

Cozumel, Q.R. — Elements of the Municipal Public Security have detained three commissioners for alleged harassment of tourists and for disturbing public order.

During a tour on Rafael E. Melgar Malecón, agents detected the three tourist service providers harassing tourists. They were also found working without carrying their corresponding operating permits.

Cozumel authorities have identified the detained trio as Bili N, Alejandro N and Gilberto N, who are allegedly repeat offenders. All three were transferred to the Public Security Directorate facilities.

The Director of Public Security, Guido Renán Rosas López said they had received reports about their bad practices against tourism, which is why they increased patrols in the area. Earlier this month, two others were arrested along the popular Cozumel street also for harassing tourists.
