Puerto Morelos starts 22 million paving project after delay

Puerto Morelos, Q.R. — Over 22 million pesos is being spent on the rehabilitation of Puerto Morelos residential roads. On Friday, work started that will see roads of Villas Morelos II fully repaired.

On Friday, the Ministry of Public Works began the rehabilitation of Félix González Canto Avenue and surrounding streets. According to Puerto Morelos Mayor Blanca Merari Tziu Muñoz, the project will cost just over 22.4 million pesos and benefit residents of the Villas Morelos II neighborhood.

A progress monitoring meeting was held Friday informing residents of the work being carried out during the remainder of the month, which consists of the formation of dirt roads, construction and hydraulic base compaction and eventual paving.

The project was delayed due to the underground installation of wires by a local phone company. Now that they have finished digging up the residential streets to install the cables, the town’s own road project can resume.
