Puerto Morelos, Q.R. — Two Puerto Morelos beaches have been Blue Flag certified for another year. City Council General Secretary, José de Jesús Espinosa Payán, said it is important to maintain the status on its beaches.
He reported that both Playa Sol and Ventana al Mar have been successfully recertified for the 2023-2024 season.
“This event is a reflection of our determination to continue consolidating ourselves as the favorite destination for national and foreign tourists through quality services and the offer of unique sites that meet the higher demands or standards,” he said.
These Blue Flag beaches are an example of attention and safety, Espinosa Payán said when leading the Blue Flag raising ceremony.
“As you already know, this is an international beach certification program and to obtain it, we had to comply, maintaining 33 strict criteria indicated by FEE. The certification means that we have achieved excellence in environmental management and handling as well as quality in the facilities with a guarantee of safety and hygiene, in addition to the promotion of educational activities to protect the environment,” he explained.
He said the certification puts Puerto Morelos on par with the best beaches in the world and contributes to strengthening the hospitality industry in the Mexican Caribbean.
“In Puerto Morelos we are on the right path, that of promoting the tourist structure and services which increases income generation while allowing us to consolidate investment and sustainable development with responsibility,” he noted.
