Puerto Morelos, Q.R. — A Puerto Morelos pedestrian was killed early Sunday in a fatal highway hit. The accident happened in the north-bound lane when a man was attempting to jaywalk the federal highway.
The unnamed man is reported to have been an area worker. He was struck by a gray Tsuru shortly after midnight. Emergency services were notified of the federal highway accident.
Municipal police were at the scene to cordon off the area where the body was found. Paramedics were called to confirm the pedestrian was dead. He was pronounced at the scene. Traffic coming from Playa del Carmen was diverted around the accident site until the medical examiner arrived to remove the body.
Police have not commented on the driver of the vehicle responsible.
