Cozumel, Q.R. — Cozumel police report the arrest of five island drivers after they were found operating a vehicle while deemed over the limit. The five arrests were made over the weekend during Operation Breathalyzer.
According to the Corporation’s Deputy Director of Traffic, Pedro Ramírez Del Ángel, a total of 20 motorists were pulled over and tested for alcohol consumption. Of those, five failed and were taken into custody.
He added that of those pulled over, eight more were cited for traffic violations for failing to have the necessary documents needed to legally have their vehicles on the road. For that, all eight vehicles were towed to the city pound.
“We urge the population to avoid driving under the influence. We work for the purpose of reducing the number of accidents and promoting a culture of legality among the inhabitants,” said Ramírez del Ángel.
