Police report woman found dead in Playa del Carmen complex involved in legal dispute

Playa del Carmen, Q.R. — A woman found dead in a central Playa del Carmen complex Sunday has been partially identified. Raúl Tassinar, the Secretary of Public Security of Solidaridad reported that the woman was of Peruvian nationality.

On Monday, Tassinar confirmed her death Sunday night, adding that she left behind a 9-year-old son who is also from Peru. The woman’s body was discovered inside the complex by the landlord around 10:00 p.m. Sunday after her son went for help. She was found with a deep abdominal wound.

Tassinar said that her death is being treated as a murder rather than a femicide, which he explained, was due to a dispute involving a private lawsuit. Her son remains in protective custody.
