Isla Mujeres, Q.R. — Another of the state’s Most Wanted has been captured and charged with extortion. He is also being investigated for murder and attempted murder as well as theft. Hugo Zuriel “N”, alias “Gemelo”, was considered a priority target of the State’s Criminal Atlas (Atlas Delictivo del Estado).
He was arrested last week and over the weekend, officially charged with extorting multiple Isla Mujeres businesses. According to state authorities, “the events for which he was charged occurred in Costa Mujeres in the Continental Zone of Isla Mujeres where he demanded payment for “floor rights” from owners of commercial establishments.”
Police have also said that “investigations link Hugo Zuriel “N” to crimes of qualified homicide and attempted homicide against three victims in events that occurred in Isla Blanca.
“He is also being investigated for his probable participation in the robbery of 3 million pesos, which occurred on October 31, 2024 in a house located in the Jardines del Sur subdivision of Cancun.”
Last week, police charged a group of five for extorting an Isla Mujeres business owner for three years. Police have not said if the two are related.
