Police arrest three after chase and exchange of gunfire through Cancun streets

Cancun, Q.R. — After a chase through city streets and an exchange of gunfire, three males are arrested. Cancun police took the three into custody on narcotic and firearm charges after witnessing a drug exchange between them.

At the sight of police, all three boarded a car and fled Costa Maya Street in SM 521 where police saw the exchange on the public street. During the police pursuit, shots were fired at the unit from those inside the car.

“Upon noticing the officers, they immediately boarded a Kia car to flee. While driving at excess speed, said subjects began to detonate firearms and subsequently collided with another vehicle,” the Secretaría de Seguridad Ciudadana (SSC) of Quintana Roo said in a statement.

As police approached, the front seat passenger “activated firearm detonations against them. The subject got out of the vehicle along with the other two men, pointing the gun at the officer to continue shooting, however, the gun jammed, preventing it from detonating,” they added.

Police repelled the attack and arrested the three men. An inspection of their vehicle revealed hundreds of street doses of differing narcotics along with six loaded firearms. Police also sezied a camouflage military uniform and three license plates, one of which is from the State of Oaxaca and the other two from Quintana Roo.

Moisés “N”, Carlos “N” and Jesús “N”, were taken into custody on drug and firearm offences.
