Playa del Carmen, Q.R. — A taxi driver from Playa del Carmen was shot to death Tuesday afternoon outside a central commercial shopping plaza. The 3:00 p.m. shooting left the man laying dead near a sidewalk of the ZaZil Ha neighborhood.
Emergency services, along with Municipal Police, arrived at the scene where they proceeded to cordon off the area while other officers made an effort to locate those responsible. Paramedics were only able to pronounce the man on site.
According to witnesses, the taxi driver, who was with his wife and two children, was being followed in his unit. One he reached the plaza and exited the car, he was shot. Arrests in the shooting have not yet been made.
