Playa del Carmen, Q.R. — A local convenience store worker was found dead Wednesday in a pedestrian hit and run. The man was identified as José Enrique “H”, an employee of a nearby convenience store.
Police were at the scene of the fatal accident Wednesday morning off the federal highway near Punta Maroma. Passing motorists reported seeing what they believed was an injured man laying off the roadway after being struck by a vehicle.
Paramedics were called in but confirmed the man was already deceased. Witnesses said the vehicle responsible kept going.
The pedestrian was hit by the ghost vehicle around 9:00 a.m. as he headed in the direction of Playa del Carmen. With witness reports, a search and locate operation for the vehicle responsible has been started.
