Felipe Carrillo Puerto, Q.R. — Motorists along the federal 307 highway outside Felipe Carrillo Puerto became part of a line of traffic several kilometers long. The backed up traffic in both directions was due to an overturned semi.
The driver of the semi ended up overturning his unit onto its side completely blocking the road. Federal transit authorities found the overturned unit around 7:00 a.m. near the Tres Reyes town intersection.
The two-lane highway was completely blocked for more than four hours Thursday as police worked to have the unit uprighted and removed. Hundreds of vehicles were stuck to wait out the move in the hot sun.
Tow trucks were brought in to remove the fallen semi and trailer. The driver was not injured. Police did not provide information as to how the driver landed the unit on its side.
