Playa del Carmen, Q.R. — One man was left for dead Thursday night during a shooting at a central Playa del Carmen bar. Police arrived at Los Sergios in the Gonzalo Guerrero neighborhood where they found one man laying dead on a sidewalk.
Police were made aware of the shooting around 9:00 p.m. outside the bar near 18th Street and Constituyentes Avenues. Paramedics pronounced one male dead at the scene and another seriously injured.
The deceased is reported to have been an employee of the bar. The injured man is said to be a city taxi driver. According to initial reports, armed men arrived at the bar on a motorcycle, firing several random shots before speeding off.
Police collected shell casings from the area. No arrests have been announced. The bar has a history of armed attacks.
In June, two employees were killed in a targeted shooting also by men on a motorcycle. One of those employees was reported to be the bar’s manager.

This latest shooting happened approximately one month after the bar reopened after being closed in June due to the death of two of its workers.
