Playa del Carmen, Q.R. — A man identified as a manager was killed Tuesday night in a direct attack against a bar. Staff and customers inside Serguios Bar in central Playa del Carmen reported the shooting around 9:00 p.m.
Two armed men are reported to have arrived and shot at the establishment from the outside before riding off on a motorcycle. During the shooting, a man standing outside the bar was hit. He has since been identified as the bar’s manager.
Police arrived at the 18th Street and 40th Avenue location in the Gonzalo Guerrero neighborhood to an injured man. By the time paramedics arrived, he had died.
State agents were called in to collect evidence and remove the deceased man. It was the second time the bar had been shot-up by criminal gang members in retaliation for refusing to pay floor rights.
