Playa del Carmen, Q.R. — Playa del Carmen firefighters put out a blaze found burning in a wooded area Sunday. Firemen were sent to a property adjacent to CTM Avenue Sunday morning in response to resident reports of smoke.

The incident was reported around 9:00 a.m. after residents and motorists traveling along CTM Avenue and Playa del Carmen Boulevard reported a dense column of smoke coming from the ground.
PDC firefighters arrived with one truck, confirming that the fire originated in the central part of the property where a clandestine dump was found.
A large pile of cut trees and vegetation was found burning. The fire was extinguished within a few minutes and stopped from spreading to nearby trees.
Neighbors reported that the area has become a source of pollution with illegal garbage dumping and also, its use by homeless people due to its concealed location.
