New Cozumel Director of Public Safety sworn in

Cozumel, Q.R. — A new Director of Public Safety and Municipal Transit has been sworn in for the municipality of Cozumel. On Friday, the Ayuntamiento of Cozumel announced the official change after being appointed in December.

“Based on the Law of the municipalities of Quintana Roo and the unanimous vote of the honorable council of Cozumel, the appointment of Lieutenant Commander of the Marine Infantry Paratrooper Luis Alberto Taylor González as Director of Public Safety and municipal Transit was approved,” reported mayor Marrufo.

At the end of the town hall session, Cozumel Mayor Juanita Alonso Marrufo congratulated the new Director, whom she asked to always work for the good of the citizens in Cozumel and to continue helping with the the municipal, state and federal governments so that peace and tranquility are maintained on the island.

After being sworn in before the collegiate body, Taylor González said that he will work closely with the councilors of the city council with whom he will hold biweekly meetings to report on the statistics, progress on public safety plans.

Luis Alberto Taylor González was officially sworn in after taking over the position in December of 2022 in place of Captain Rodrigo Rodríguez Peña, who was terminated from his position.
