Mexico extradites Cártel Jalisco Nueva Generación head to U.S.

Guadalajara, Jalisco — Rubén Oseguera González, son of the Cártel Jalisco Nueva Generación leader Nemesio Oseguera Cervantes and who was second in command, has been extradited to the United States to face drug and firearm charges.

Oseguera González was extradited to the U.S. Thursday where he is wanted on drug distribution and firearm charges. He has been in Mexican custody since 2015, continually fighting the extradition charges through human rights complaints.

Oseguera González is considered number two in the Cártel Jalisco Nueva Generación, which was directed by his father. He was handed over to U.S. authorities where he was wanted by the United States District Court for the District of Columbia.

Since 2015, Mexican authorities have kept him in a high security prison located in Hermosillo, Sonora. The Cártel Jalisco Nueva Generación (CJNG) is considered the most violent organization currently in Mexico.
