Puerto Aventuras, Q.R. — Land earmarked for a new health clinic in Puerto Aventuras has been delimited. The land was marked by officials over the weekend in hopes of deterring squatters.
The plot of donated land is intended for the eventual construction of the IMSS Family Medicine Unit in Puerto Aventuras. Local authorities arrived on the property Saturday to delimit the land after recent attempts at illegal occupation.
Puerto Aventuras Mayor Gilberto Gómez Martínez explained that these attempts at invasion continue on land belonging to the government, which has forced authorities to act to protect the property.
Martínez said the marking of the property is crucial for people to understand the land has a legitimate owner and that any attempt to occupy this or any other owned land could have legal consequences.
Martinez recalled that in the past, squatters have invaded municipal land behind the cemetery, which is still occupied by the illegal squatters.
“We went to support the maintenance of order and respect for public property. We thank the Council for its commitment to extend the donation of the property which will allow us to provide the community with a medical clinic that is so necessary for the residents,” he said.
Solidaridad City Council recently extended the donation of the land for two more years, giving the municipality time to secure the funding required to build.
Plots of land were donated to the municipality of Solidaridad for the construction of two medical clinics, one of which is in Puerto Aventuras. Funding to build the clinics has kept the lands free of construction, however on September 10, City Council will hold a technical meeting regarding the delivery of funds to build the much needed clinics.
