Tulum, Q.R. — Nearly two dozen people participated in a search for missing people in Tulum jungle Thursday. Five women from Searching Mothers of Quintana Roo were part of the afternoon police search .
Their efforts were concentrated at Kilometer 9 of the Tulum-Boca Paila highway. There, FGE personnel along with the Secretariat of Security and Citizen Protection, Civil Protection, State Police, Secretariat of the Navy and National Guard, spent several hours searching for known people missing in that area.
The search was for two men who went missing in separate events. Both were last seen around that area in December. Nearly two dozen people scoured the jungle but left empty handed several hours into their search.
The search was made after a recent protest by the Searching Mother’s group who accused local authorities of not doing enough. Other searches are expected to be carried out in various areas of Tulum in coming days.
On Monday, Bernabé Pech Ramírez, the General Secretary of Tulum City Council commented that talks were held to support the search for known missing people in the area.
