German woman arrested during luggage inspection inside AICM

Mexico City, Mexico — A German woman was taken into custody Monday from inside the Mexico City International Airport. The woman was arrested after a K9 sniffed out narcotics.

On Tuesday, authorities reported on the airport incident that took place inside Terminal 1. The Secretary of the Navy reported that naval personnel in coordination with security personnel from the Mexico City International Airport (AICM), secured seven packages of narcotics from her luggage.

The packages were located during a routine luggage inspection at the AICM, in which one suitcase tested positive for organic material. That suitcase was moved to the assigned inspection point in Terminal 1 from where they located the owner.

A woman from Germany proceeded to identify her luggage in the presence of naval and private security personnel. Inside, authorities located “seven packages containing white crystals which weighed approximately 4.61 kilograms.”

The detained woman, as well as the alleged seized drugs, were placed at the disposal of the Attorney General’s Office (FGR) based at the AICM for the integration of the corresponding investigation.
