Excessive speed blamed for accident that left two vehicles overturned in Puerto Morelos

Puerto Morelos, Q.R. — Excessive speed is being blamed for a two vehicle crash in Puerto Morelos. The accident happened Sunday when two vehicles on the federal highway collided.

Passing motorists stopped to help the victims while they waited for the arrival of rescue teams. Officers from the National Guard Highways and Bridges Division arrived first to coordinate rescue efforts.

An ambulance from Puerto Morelos rushed the injured to hospital. Civil Protection and elements of the Puerto Morelos fire department were also at the scene.

According to available information, the accident happened when one of the speeding cars made contact with the central median. The driver lost control and bounced off several fix structures before finally overturning.

Two vehicles ended up overturned when the responsible vehicle crossed the path of an oncoming car. One car came to a stop on its side, while the second landed on its roof. The driver alleged responsible had left Playa del Carmen and was heading for Cancun at the time of the accident.
